Bonfires: The Fire Within and Without!

My favorite activity is crashing Bonfire parties! After the first crash I'm told: You are Invited!
Thus you should have seen me whining when I asked: Will we have our Bonfire this Holiday? The Host's yellow labby puppy's litter mate showed up and they played non-stop while the adult humans tried to relax non-stop.
An "Until Death Dewey Party" 60-something member twice repeated her "it's a ritual" of throwing shovelfuls of fire-y and glowing coals into the sea.
The music was provided by a 30-something iPad owner!
WHAT?!?
The volume hardly competed with the crashing waves.
I yearned for a boom-box.
I yearned for a guitar sing-out!
I wondered if the iPad user ever did KNOW a bonfire with yelping kids and dogs, hot-dogs falling charred into the pit and burnt fingers from licking clean the burny-hot marshmallow smored- sticky-gooeyness?
iPad liefstyle does not match the above.
I wondered what was the first bonfire "techno-accompaniment? Radio?
Our crazy coal throwing party-goer got it right. The fire is without and needs to stay that way. Put out by the sea.
iPad fire within is ultimately without: life.

Dewey Beach Leaseholds...... Series 2.

A New Year! A New Lifestyle?
Could a life-style change be test-driven?
Yes, is the answer!
The Lease-hold Beach Cottage was my sports-car/boat variety indulgence test-drive!
I knew I had to change my life; but I was unwilling to throw it all up in the air just for a change. How could I find a new life while living the current one?
Could I hold up to the commute? Could my business hold up to the "time away"? Would I like a beach-y Delaware life? Would this be where I would "retire"?
I loved the idea of a second block from the ocean location! Where else on the East Coast can one find this option for "cheap"?
I loved the idea of a cottage devoted for a determined functional goal: beach/fun, beach/fun, and more beach/fun!
I liked the idea of a three-season cottage, that required "Winterization". I'd enjoy the cottage May thru October; close the cottage; and then focus on life's non-beachy demands.
By purchasing the Lease-hold Beach Cottage I'd spend not too much cash; have a wild good time, and simultaneously and soberly asses the area for my next move: my "full-time" beach-y location.

Dewey Beach Leaseholds...... Series 1.

2004, I changed my life. I was six years into "Boot Camp", all work and no play, and it was time to have fun...... not just once in a while, but every week!
Childhood Summer memories at Dewey and Rehoboth Beach prodded me to return and find the fun. Since I loved life at the beach as a sand-crab the theory was as an adult I would too!
Summer of 2004, I looked for my beach cottage. As a kid we rented lease-hold cottages on the beach block; as an adult I wanted the same experience.
Summer 2004, what a crazy real-estate market I came into! In my humble opinion the prices for fee-simple and lease-holds were beyond inflated.
I decided not to buy a price-inflated fee-simple beach property, and instead I wanted a property not more than three blocks from the beach; and the cheapest one would do just fine. Thus I bought my Rehoboth By The Sea Leasehold "Beachy Cottage", Second Block from the ocean.
I bought a life style. I found a community of over 300 property owners that did the same as myself.
The lease-hold is the same as buying a fancy vehicle or boat. The money is spent for pleasure and not as an investment.
Sometimes, I do call my beachy-cottage: My Beached Boat.
I am happy to be moored two blocks from the finest beach in Dewey!

Running of the Bull, It's Raining Men and Champagne!

A rainy day for The Starboard's The Running of the Bull: PERFECTION!
And what else was there to do? Attend the Town of Dewey Beach Council Meeting?! I have my priorities!
2010 Running of the Bull drew at least 2,000 revelers and at least 70% were wet to the bone with the rain and drink.
Who knew the event would be "Mandatory Wet Tee-Shirt Contest"!?! The men did and they vastly outnumbered the fairer sex.
I was happy in my bathing suit, my big floppy hat, and under the canopy hanging with the audio-visual guys.
The canopy offered a wonderful carnival effect as every 5 minutes a looped-fool got a torrent of rain-water-bath cascading from the staked edge.
Although Budweiser Beer kindly sponsored the event, "The Bull's Drink of Choice" was J. Roget's Champagne Magnums! Looped-ones explained for the $$ it was more cost effective than more than a handful of beers and it saved time approaching the bar. Ok, so it is a big bottle to carry around. But it was put to great use for, "Spin the Bottle" games!
We all cried for the Star Spangled Banner and then off we went on our Bull & The Beach run!
My favorite moment: when The Bull arrives ( he had a very late night and showed up very late too) to the tune of Wooly Bully!

Summer Cottage Preparations, ~ 1960's

I spent my Childhood Summers, Memorial Day to Labor Day, in Dewey and Bethany Beach from ages a few months old to age 12.  I learned from my Mom to purchase the entire household staples in one fell swoop.  Then it was only the perishables we were after: fresh berries, corn on the cob, and trips to Indian River Inlet for fresh fish!
How well I remember the trip to the Safeway Foods for the stocking-up occasion.  We were shopping for two adults and four children!  We walked every aisle, loaded cart after cart, and I remember being horrified at a total bill of ~ $400.00!
This seasons load of all my needed sunscreen products to last until October 31st tallied at least $75.00!
We loaded up two even-old-for-the era Chevys with our household pets, clothes, toys, bikes, beach towels and linens, the above supplies ...... and headed out!
One year en-route we had a flat tire.  My parents failed to change the Snow Tires out.
Going over the Bay Bridge, my heart sang out with relief!  It was the dividing line of "School Days" to" Summer Beach Days"!
Outfitting the cottage was done fast, we said "Hi" to neighbors, and then we hit the beach!
Paper plates and cups were "the thing" to save time and trouble for washing dishes.
My parents saved money for the family of four on shoes and sandals: we wore none until the first day of School!

2010 State Park Pass! Sign of Spring!

A certain sign of Spring and getting prepared for Beach Season is scraping off the old annual Delaware State Park Pass and putting on the new.
After five years, I now have the removal technique down-pat.
Soak the sticker with Citronella.
Go have lunch.  Have fruit and cheese for dessert.
Return to the vehicle with a small Italian-made cheese spreader knife.
Wipe the sticker with more Citronella until all ink is gone. :-)
Now use the spreader knife to scrape off the adhering clear film.
Wipe clean with more Citronella and then Windex.
This year my DE State Park Pass is a DNREC and Cape Henlopen Volunteer "reward".
Every year when I went to buy my pass........ I admit to being annoyed to pay the "out of state fee" even though I own DE property!  The fees are based on your license plate place of registration.
I am so psyched by this show of gratitude amidst the economic stresses of "this economy".
Thank you, Delaware!!!!

New Cell for the Beach! Mermaid Approved!

Venus has a new cell phone! Mermaid approved for beach use!
Every two years I purchase my new cell phone.  The key is matching the cell phone to my lifestyle. Until now, no cell phone happily tolerated wet and salty handling, sweaty ear to the receiver, sand finding it's way into every crevice, or being abandoned to the vehicle's extreme temperatures.
At the Verizon store, I explained in detail my need for a cell to handle the above.  I held my breath while I waited for my "dream-cell wish come true" and there it was: Motorola's Barrage!
It is 100% sealed and handles all detailed above including a 30 minute watery one-meter plunge!
Although the cell has rugged good looks and handling....... Venus asked for the cell in hot pink, shiny fire-engine red, or vibrating purple? Screaming neon yellow?
:-(
Only black is available.
Venus will be on the beach talking away on her cell and then will happily zip it in her soaking wet and sandy beach skirt pocket.

Hail, Snow Emergency, Broadkill Babes & Polar Bears

One August day at Tower Beach, just after a swim, drying-off looking skyward, I noticed severe threatening clouds.  Immediately the beach was closed; the masses left for their vehicles.  As I pulled onto Rte 1, hail-hail-hail the size of peas rained down, dropped, and bounced like crazy bouncy-balls. By the time I pulled into Dewey Beach the hail covered pavement only started to melt. Exhilarated and charmed was I. My vehicle was OK and so was I.
I was astounded by the news of the Friday night governor's declaration of the Snow Emergency.  In PA I was in my own Snow Emergency.  I shot off a bunch of emails asking my friends to send back smoke-signals.
My Broadkill Beach Babe girlfriends were without electric from Friday night to Tuesday morning.  Plowed road??? The plow and electric were restored after a 911 medical emergency call!
Survivor Babes drained their house water pipes and played sleep-overs in front of a cozy, non-stop stoked wood stove.  The reported dinner menu was baked sweet potatoes and bananas!
After Storm #1, with frozen gutters and icicles 4 feet long,  I awoke from my dream: swimming in the ocean with a Polar Bear!
And yes, Bethany Beach's Polar Bear swim was cancelled.
Thanks to G-D, my friends and myself are OK.

Beach Sand & Mountain Snow

My six months of Delaware beach-side and ( legal) dune wandering does not translate well to scrambling Pennsylvania rocky trails.  Eight weeks after cottage-Winterizing, back "On The Mountain" and I am still trying to get my "trail legs".
Weekends I've favored flat trails.  My one adventure negotiating the rocky trail and summit of Waggoner's Gap Hawk Watch left me wondering why I left Delaware!
Fourteen years living at 1,200 feet and I am a flat lander, "sea-level" girl-at-heart still!
Perhaps because I first crawled beach-side as a "sand crab baby", I am hard wired for sand and water mobility and not rocks and boulders!
Delaware Fish & Wildlife Dune Surveys are the highlight of my Summer!  I get to legally wander the dunes in search of the endangered Beach Amaranth! Scorching sun or driving wind, I am still happy wandering the sand!
In shoes or barefoot, on warm or cold sand, it is my medium. At Gordon's Pond and Delaware Seashore Park, walking along the low-tide shoals with the water just to my ankles, peering at the tide-pool life I am in my joy.
This weekend's Snow Storm walk, I was almost comfortable again!  I pulled on thermal muck boots and walked and walked.  Slushing thru the 10-12 inches of snow I was almost on "sand".  Finding my balance, sinking-in, and leaving footprints............ snow is not sand..... but similar!

A Swimsuit Is My Daily Dress!

As they say in Pennsylvania, I've been "readying-up" my closets. Three down and three more to go!
The purging of my Pennsylvania clothes tells the story of my Before Beach Cottage Life.  Now revealed is my former life, my present life,  what I have and what I need.
Missing are light-weight cotton pants for hiking.  But, I do have piles of crop pants for Summer beach walks and loads of sweat pants for enjoying the late-night bonfires.
Gone are intricate Summer dresses in favor of very comfy cotton tops and full skirts now my weekly "go-to-the-beach" commute uniform.
Gone are fluffy sweaters in favor of Nike techno-jackets for braving the ocean-side winds.
Appearing out of nowhere are now stacks of  "cute going out tops" ..... now purged according to sun or beer-staining.
Carefully curated very-lady-like handbags are now ignored for ones that are big enough to hold beach commute needs, but whose color and style must shout : I am Going to Dewey Beach!
Gone are my closed-toe and high heel shoes!!!!  My feet could care less for anything but sandals, sandals, sandals, and clogs!
In high Summer my uniform is a two-piece bathing suit topped with a simple cotton seersucker sundress!   Off I go to use the computer at my beloved Rehoboth Library!  Off to Fifer's to get a fruit pie!  And then off to Cape Henlopen State Park for Piping Plover Monitoring and a Swim.
A Swimsuit As my Daily Dress: silly happy am I.

Dewey Beach is a Festival of Lights

Hannukha The Festival of Lights is this week.  At Sunset, in awe and wonder we light the Menorah, watch the candles dance, and then sputter.  Repeat for eight days.
The Light Show is yours daily at Dewey Beach.  We are a tiny strip of sand, a Barrier Island, we have Dawn over the ocean and Sunset over the Bay!
In the morning the light is cool and opal-blue.  In the evening warm oranges and pinks paint the sky and reflect on the homes.
Sunset is when we walk our dogs.  Or walk the beach to Nalu's to take in the live music and Happy Hour.
Sunset is where we celebrate: on roof top decks, and Bay- side restaurants; Que Pasa, North Beach, and The Light House are favorites.
North Beach: the sunset "clock" hands point to the next days show-time.  We know how many days of Summer are left to us just by tracking the Sun's Bay-dipping point!
Que Pasa: When the glass garage doors are up, it is as if you pulled your pontoon up to the dock and got out for a drink!
The Light House's Friday Taco Toss is the "required" place to be.  The sunset backdrops the bar action and the Orange Crush drinks in hand.
At Sunset, Cape Henlopen State Park sees local romantic couples walking the Beach Pavilion Boardwalk, and Fishing Pier to survey the enchantment.  The breakwater and two Lighthouses set the scene along with sailing vessels.
Lewes's Roosevelt Inlet is " The Secret" local spot...... only a few fisherman are there to enjoy the end of the day.  The Bay flashes neon above and bounces off the sand beach.
July 4th Fireworks on the beach celebrates all above as it carries on the show just as Mother Nature's Nuclear Spectacle dozes, sleeps, and then..... repeats!

Small Kitchen Stories: Warm Cottage: Running of The Lamb

My Dewey Beach Daze has come late in life; after 20 years of marriage and 1 kid.
I missed the 'Till Death Dewey Party- Debauchery Years of street Toga parties of 100's, when Police gave fines for "excessive blender... Marguerita... noise", or would march in and cut the cords of bad-ass speaker systems.
Never having done the beer thing in college or later, or now...... My Dewey buds instruct that special drinking events require special pre-drinking meals.... the better to get thru the bar event!  Pre-requisite: a bit heavy and fatty.
Ah, perhaps the Biggest and Silliest Drinking Event of the Season is: The Starboard's Running of The Bull!  Hours and Hours of Drinking "to prepare" for running with the crowd on the beach alongside the cutest Bull ever! ( I gave him pets and kisses ).
( Shop at The Giant Foods, Rte One, the night before the event.  Morning of, does not work as the drinking starts in the AM!)
Thus I present:

Running with The Bull, er Lamb.... umm-yuumm, Bull, uh, whatever.

Olive Oil
Ground Lamb, 1 lb
One Tub of Pre-cooked Rice, Lundberg Brand, micro-waved for 60 seconds
Tomatoes, 2 chopped
Green Olives, Pitted, ~ 1/3 cup chopped
Onion, 1 chopped
Garlic, 2 cloves, chopped
Parsley, Flat Leaf, minced, ~ 1/3 bunch
Mushrooms, ~ 8 chopped
Red Wine, 1/2 cup
Marjoram, Dillweed to taste
Mustard, 1 tablespoon

In a nice big saute pan , add a very small ladle of olive oil and heat up.  Add in the onion, garlic, and mushrooms and let them get some nice color.  Then add in the ground Lamb and let that brown up.  Then add in everything else, except the wine.  Turn up the heat to high and stir and stir until a fair amount of moisture comes off.  Then add in the wine and stir some more.

Butternut Squash: pre-chopped: this is in a clear plastic container with all the other fresh veggys.
Butter, 1 Tablespoon.
Place in a dish with a small amount of water.  Cover and microwave for ~ 7 minutes.  Drain.  Mash.  Add in a big pat of butter and mash again.

Ta DA!

Small Kitchen Stories: Warm Cottage: Chicken Stew a La Dewey

One Memorial Day weekend, Dewey Beach's "Ed's Chicken and Crabs" caught fire.  Just a few hours  later Chicken Ed was back in  business with portable grills!
Chicken Ed's!  Passing it you get to inhale the Delmarva home-cooking smells: bay-seasoned crabs, roasted chicken, even the table cloth of  inky-newsprint.  Greeting every happy customer seated on the benches facing the street is pure Dewey Beach entertainment.  Soused and stewed, drunk or not, everyone has a gleam in their eyes and at their mouth.

This recipe is my:  Stewed Ode to Dewey Beach's, "Chicken Ed's".

*We are shopping at the Route 1: The Giant Foods :-)

Olive Oil
Chicken Pieces, 1 lb: I use thighs.  Nature's Promise brand
Fresh Peas, 1 package.  Ok to use frozen, Organic
Corn Yellow, 1 lb, frozen.  Nature's Promise brand
Tomato Canned, 1 Big, Nature's Promise brand
Red Sweet Pepper, 1, chopped
Onion, 1, chopped
Mushrooms, 6, chopped
Parsley, Italian Flat-Leaf, 1/2 bunch minced
Garlic, 2, minced
Red Wine, 1/2 cup
Water, 1 Cup
Honey, 1 teaspoon
Mustard, 1 teaspoon
Celery Seed, Marjoram, Dill, and half a Bay Leaf, ........ season to taste.

Choose a BIG comfy pot. Put in a small ladle of olive oil and heat.  Saute the onion and mushroom.  Put in the chicken pieces and brown on both sides.  Add in everything else!  Bring to a boil and then simmer covered for 45 minutes.

Serve over steamed white rice.
Fruit salad: Grapefruit, Banana and Kiwi cut with honey an Cardamom works for me!

Ta DA!

Halloween @ Lewes and Dewey

Halloween weekend is when I close up the cottage for Winter.  Close Up.  Retreat into Winter, the cold, The Mountain, My Work.
Underground I go for 6 months, down into Hades, Pluto's Domain.  ( Not to worry, G-D Willing and with Demeter's Blessing: In May, like Persephone, The Goddess of the Beach Returns To Dewey Beach with Spring on her heels! )
How fitting that Halloween marks my last days at the Beach In The Sun...... still building my sand castle and not wanting to come in from play and take that 6 months Winter's Nap.
After Hawk Watch and  closing up chores I did a Halloween Trick or Treat drive thru of the Historic section of Lewes.  Next year I will walk it!
So-spooky Lewes which gets this vibe honestly, considering it's maritime and early-America settler history... condensed into the tiny town.... with the Cape May-Lewes Ferry's paved-over-parking lot of the Unknown Sailors Grave, neighborhood graveyards and Victorian homes everywhere.... is genuinely spooky for Trick or Treaters.  The homes with  the vast porches were filled with decorations and festive hauntings.
Then off I went to Bethany Blues to meet up friends for dinner.  Loads of fun watching the staff in costume.  Our favorite: The Cereal/Serial Killer..... cereal box with a knife dripping blood!
Then it was time to run home... put on our costumes and attend Dewey's 8-Bar Halloween Crawl.
My crawl started and ended at The Starboard. Jimmi Smooth and The Hit Time played our favorite party tunes.  Jimmi looks even younger than seen at the September Town Party!  This guy is aging in reverse along with his energy level to match!
Costume trends: this year there was not one "French Maid" and such, but a decided "Law Enforcement" theme: policemen, fire chiefs, helmets and badges galore!
Dewey Beach has a One Million Dollar annual budget for Law Enforcement!  Do the costumes speak to this????
Back at the cottage my costume was packed away for another year.
Next year, I'll dress as Persephone! Or Pluto???!  I'm working on my costume now.

Greyhounds Reach The Beach and Get Wed Too!

Do you dream of getting married on the beach?  I do. And so do Greyhounds and their owners. And thus they did!
When Greyhounds Reach The Beach @ Dewey Beach, my goal is: how many can I pet? :-)
My Saturday Evening beach walk started out with nary a Greyhound in sight for a pet.  I was sad and contemplated going into Rehoboth just to find the pets!
While on Read Street my luck turned: I saw a gathering crowd of Greyhounds and Owners.  Soon I lost count of how many hounds I was petting....... but then I started to notice the fancy retro-1940's hat and dress party atmosphere.  The dogs in costume.... not the owners!!!
I was informed to put on my manners for a Double Greyhound Wedding!  Two Grooms in Military Dress!  Two Brides in flowing white chiffon! Flower Girls and a Wedding Party all in fancy gowns and tux's and swish-swishing tails.
When the Minister of Ceremonies asked if any Man or Dog should object to the wedded union......... indeed five minutes of sad-dog-houndy-hound-ing-moaning and yelping ensued!
The ceremony did continue despite the objections and upon completion everyone clapped and the hounds barked!
After the ceremony, one of the grooms lost his manners and pissed on the Bride Maid of Honor's pink chiffon gown!  Time to forget the faux-pas and party-on!  This is Dewey Beach!
A Wedding Cake and Grey Houndy-treat Reception followed at the near-by motel's pool-side.

Dogs Rule at Dewey Beach but not at Cape Henlopen State Park

Cape Henlopen State Park (CHSP) is one of my most favorite spots on Earth........... and I love dogs....... but if you plan to spend the day there..... best to leave doggie at home.
At CHSP dogs are limited to the "surf fishing beach" and a few paved roads/trails, and not much else.
Dogs are not allowed at The Point, The Beach Pavilion, The Fishing Pier, nor the unpaved trails.
An early morning or late afternoon doggie walk along the paved road/trail..... is very nice.  But not nice if doggie then has to spend the remainder of it's time in the vehicle :-(
Wildlife abounds and dogs are not in the wildlife management program ;-(
Thus it is a little too scary when a dog appears at The Point on the public beach but near enough to the Restricted Area to possibly do damage to a Piping Plover Adult or Chicks/Fledglings.
Now Dewey Beach is a Dog's Play Ground!  During life-guard season dog o'clock is before guards are on duty, I think until ~ 8:30 AM......and then after 5:30 PM.  They will need a license from Town Hall.
Dewey Doggies all know each other...... they wait to hear the life guard's whistle and some even walk themselves up to the beach....... where family awaits!
My favorite is Otis, The Mayor!  He RULES, but sweetly so.  Otis roamed the streets of Baltimore until he made it to the steps of Catholic Charities where he was promptly adopted.  Otis now lives beach-block....... .and when I see him gaze at the ocean...... in his eyes it is beyond apparent....  he KNOWS he is a LUCKY DOG!

Bonfire, Piping Plovers and Que Pasa! Typical!

Friday night was a fun Birthday Bonfire!  30 to 40 year olds, married with their first kid-lets and accompanying dogs.  Birthday Boy was surrounded by family and some single friends so a Yucca ( jug with water, sugar, vodka, lemon, limes) was passed round and round.
A father of two cute kids and a hot wife, decided to be Jack-Be-Nimble Jack-Be-Quick and he really did jump over the huge Fire Pit!!!!!  Nothing was scorched.  I squealed!  His wife and kids did not!
Saturday I did Bird Police at Cape Henlopen State Park.  What a great session it was!  ~ 20 birders from a Baltimore club came to bird the spot and cross the Endangered Species Piping Plover off their Life List.  I was able to show them a chick..... and adults too. From their leader,  I learned much about Terns and Gulls.
I rushed back to the cottage for a quick snack and to spend the afternoon lounging and swimming on my beach.
Saturday evening I was off with friends to Que Pasa.
Que Pasa is wonderful because there ain't much there except a garage with glass doors! It is as if you docked with your boat and got out for drinks with chips and salsa.  We waited 30 minutes to get a table on "the Bay beach".  We talked past the sunset into the night.
The food is very curious and shows some invention.  As dinner, it is over priced...... as rental for the local real-estate ... worth every penny.   It is my favorite Sunday wind-down spot.
For not much more cash........ Rehoboth's Finn's buys you a cozy bar, with a fabulous beer menu, and the best fried ( lightly) oyster dinner I've had since????
Sunday it was back to Cape Henlopen State Park and more swimming!

1 Day, 3 Beaches!

Summers as a child my day was made if got to visit "a new beach".  As an adult I am driven still to find, "a new beach"!  Lord knows how I love the Island of Kauai for spending a day wandering from one beach cove to the next!
Sunday I did my childhood dream of three beaches in one day!
I started off the day with a glorious hour's swim at DE's Seashore Park, Tower Road.  Then I tried out the West Street Beach for a quick dip and to check out the beach break, which is much improved since 2008.
Then as the sun started to dip, I raced off to Cape Henlopen's State Park at The Point for "Bird Police Duty" and to take in the feeding birds at low-tide and the  sunset.
1 Day, 3 Beaches: makes me happy!

Urban Beach

The Dewey Beach of my youth was "The Wild-Wild West".  Homes snug against huge-huge sand dunes ....... which I wandered hours on end..... no signs of civilization until you arrived at Rehoboth.  To my childhood senses the boardwalk auction house signaled "chic"!
The dunes are gone, the 20-30's  have their wild drunken moments, but the reports of the Dagsworthy Street Memorial Weekend rape and last week's armed robbery make me sad beyond belief.
The Town of Dewey Beach Police Force annual budget is ~ One Million dollars!
Dewey Beach is Urban Beach. Not even 2 miles long, we are 17 bars and counting.
Of late, having spent so much time in the "wilderness" of Slaughter Beach and Cape Henlopen State Parks, "The Point"........ once back on my Urban Beach for an afternoon beach-time, I feel as if I am in New York City!
Ah, but I do love the edges of beach-meets-City.  Live music.  The fun bar life with a setting sun and dancing.  Fun and cool.
But, bring back my dunes, and my perfect beach with three sets of waves a-rolling in! The marshes where myself and my siblings crabbed in tiny row boats....... my marsh now a man- made Silver Lake with multi-million dollar homes.
And nary a need for Dewey's One Million Dollar Police Force.

Very Dewey Friday!

Very-Dewey-Beach was my 6:30PM Friday Night Happy Hour invite........ which turned into a barbecue cookout which turned into a Big Happy Birthday party which ended at midnight!
I took the hosts doggie out for a quick walk......and discovered as I walked by an ocean block home that has a Key West outdoor bar/kitchen/outdoor fireplace! I dubbed it "Que Pasa Oceanside".  I crashed their party and said to look for me again!
