Dewey Beach Music Conference and Brother Joscephus!

I love beyond measure The Dewey Beach Music Conference invasion!   ~ 150 bands arrive to play at ~ 7 venues, with ~ 12 stages! The music industry scouts and booking agents do daytime workshops and mentoring.  For the general public there is no cover charge to take in the performances!

Our tiny town, not even 2 miles long is utterly given over to the event.  Walk the town and live original music is found at every step.  Fun moments are easy to find.

  ~ 12 midnight at The Grotto ( pizza shop) I saw a Mississippi Delta Blues group playing...... as it was well lighted and perfect for videoing. Patrons were in adoration mode.

One of the best people watching events of the season, I adore tracking the fashion.  This year the rockstar's girlfriends gave up their hippie Boho skirts and dresses, boots...... as in-oh -so-2008, for 2009's very skinny, dark wash jeans, shiny and seductive stilettos and sky-high platforms.  For both guys and dolls, shiny, long flowing hair was the favorite accessory.  "Brittish Invasion" style was heavily favored.

I started out at the Bottle and Cork...... two stages set up...... and on the bigger stage, took in "Roman Traffic" working progressive rock with atmospheric trance rhythms. 

I give a group 30 seconds..... and if I am not entranced, then off I go to the next venue....the next group did not make the cut.... I was off to the Rusty Rudder.

Out on the deck I was WOW-WOWED by "Brother Joscephus and The Love Revival Revolution Orchestra".  This group delivered the tunes and entertained! 

Hang with me for the descriptors:  top-speed smooth jazz gone N'awlins Gospel Revival, with the 80's "Village People" gone to Mardi Gras Party down in N-e-w O-r-leans!  

The group wore only white, pink and purple, campy costumes, and were loaded down with Mardi Gras beads which of course were flung into the crowd.

The keyboard player, wearing head to toe white tails, wore a King's Crown of Purple. 

Most bizarre was that he wore white gloves...... not a trace of humanity, ( no skin ), touched the keyboard...... thus the performance was otherworldly.  No trance rhythms here but the music and visuals transported!

And oh-how-I-loved-it when Brother J announced: Ladies, if you do not have a man, then one will be provided for you!

Needless to say the crowd pressed upon the stage and went half crazy when the set was over....... as the next group was up!

 A classic Dewey Beach evening!  

Woody's Grill and James Otto

Since I mostly cook and eat-in, oh how happy I am when I find a new place to dine in Dewey Beach which fits the bill.  Woody's Grill is the place and one the locals have already dubbed their own.

Woody's is located in the former rather sketchy-looking "Mike's Frozen Tundra" at which I never-even took one look-see.

The outdoor seating area is actually cozy and comfy.... and fabulous for people watching those across the street at The Bottle and Cork....... my next destination.  Inside, the dining area does not appeal.  But the bar does.

Even better is the menu which is Dewey Beach Up-Scale-d!   Creative and fun menu with appetizers, sandwiches and entrees!  The prices are ever so mild.  I ordered a Cajun crusted Ahi tuna.... with a scary sounding but yummy side of seaweed salad with cucumber and melon.  Delicious.  Served on a cool square china dish, sprinkled with the Cajun spice.  This is dinner worth the price!  

Then it was off to the Bottle and Cork for James Otto! I started out feeling a bit miffed as the show started near to 11PM...... thus indicating it would be only one set.. which it was.

But, this 6'5" musician won me over in the first song! His good looks helped too!

James Otto must come from a long line of musicians, he plays with such confidence.  He can play anything, but his chosen style is very Pop/Country/Nashville.  Love-love-love his back up group, especially the steel-guitar player!!!!

Although I high-tailed it home near to 1 AM..... James Otto met the audience and gifted many with guitar picks and signed drumsticks!  

Saturday I was only good for beach time: swimming, reading, lounging!

Stressing OUT over Sandals!

It's that time to get my Dewey Beach Sandal Collection ready!!!

I ALWAYS stress OUT over my footwear. 

    Having a 8.5 AA foot does not help! :-(

One pair  ...I use Birki's .... is used to walk everywhere......and after spending time on gritty-sandy sidewalks and getting spilt beers on it at The Bottle & Cork.......this pair rarely makes it from one season to the next.

Fancy heels, stilettos????!  HA!  Forget- about- it unless you want your heel to catch in the deck boards at The Rusty Rudder!

So what works for going out???? Some cute flat ones.  And be prepared to cry if these too get beer spilled on them!

Beach wear?  I still have my 20 year old Italian Beach Sensi  Sandals ....  the foot bed with the tiny holes........ the sand goes right thru ........ so no slipping and sliding on a sandy foot bed.  I'll be in tears when these fall apart.  And hope I can find again this very pair.
